The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic climbed to 2.5% year-on-year in April 2026, up from 1.9% in March. This result confirmed the preliminary estimate and represents the highest rate since October 2025. Price growth accelerated across several categories, including housing and utilities (1.2% vs 1.0% in March), transport (8.7% vs 5.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.2% vs 3.3%), recreation, sports and culture (3.4% vs 2.5%), information and communication (3.4% vs 2.9%), and health (4.0% vs 3.9%).

By contrast, inflation slowed for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (1.4% vs 1.7%), restaurants and accommodation services (4.3% vs 4.4%), and personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (3.5% vs 3.7%). Deflation persisted in food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.3% vs -1.1%) and clothing and footwear (-2.4% vs -2.6%), although the pace of price declines moderated. On a monthly basis, consumer price growth eased slightly, with prices rising 0.5% in April compared with 0.6% in March.
