13.05.202612:30:00UTC+00US April PPI Jumps to 1.4% MoM, Underscoring Renewed Price Pressures

Producer prices in the United States accelerated sharply in April 2026, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) rising 1.4% month-over-month, up from a 0.5% increase in March. The latest data, updated on 13 May 2026, point to a notable pickup in upstream inflationary pressure compared with the previous month.

On a month-over-month basis, April’s reading shows that producer prices are now increasing at nearly three times the pace seen in March 2026. The “actual” figure for April reflects the change versus March, while the “previous” figure captures March’s change relative to February, highlighting a clear upward shift in the monthly inflation trend at the producer level.

The stronger PPI data may signal rising cost pressures for businesses, which could eventually filter through to consumer prices if sustained, adding a new layer of complexity to the inflation outlook and policy considerations in the months ahead.
