Greece’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.5% in January 2026, down from a four‑month high of 2.6% in December. Price growth moderated in several key categories, including housing and utilities (2.1% vs 2.8% in December), transport (0.9% vs 1.7%), and restaurants and accommodation services (6.8% vs 6.9%).

Notable price declines were recorded in furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-0.5% vs 0.5%), miscellaneous goods and services (-0.7% vs 0.6%), and communication (-1.6% vs 0.3%).

By contrast, inflation picked up for food and non‑alcoholic beverages (4.5% vs 3.6%), clothing and footwear (8.0% vs 1.8%), and recreation and culture (2.0% vs 1.0%). Inflation remained unchanged for education (2.8%) and health (0.4%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.8% in January, marking the first decline in six months, after a 0.3% increase in December.
